Acid-soluble sulfide

An acid-soluble sulfide will dissolve in acidic liquids (pH<3) in the absence of an oxidizing agent (which is principally ferric iron). If it does not dissolve, it is an acid-stable sulfide.

Acid-soluble metal sulfides are leached by both of the leaching chemicals Fe³⁺ and H⁺ via the polysulfide pathway.
