Acidianus brierleyi

Acidianus brierleyi is the first discovered iron- and sulfur-oxidizing archaea (1965) from an acidic, thermal spring in Yellowstone National Park (USA) [1]

The fact that the archaean could bioleach the very refractory chalcopyrite was demonstrated in 1978 [2]
