Refractory gold

From BioMineWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Refractory gold ore is generally defined as ore containing gold which cannot be satisfactorily recovered by conventional methods used to treat non-refractory gold ores, like gravity concentration or cyanidation.

Cause

The refractory nature of these ores can be attributed to the presence of substances that consume the cyanide reagent before it can dissolve the gold, preferentially adsorb the gold as is dissolves or encapsulate the gold particles thus preventing action of the leaching solution.
