Sulfatizing roast

Converts sulfides into sulfates. The corresponding sulfates are highly water soluble and can be selectively solubilized leaving iron in the residue.

Examples:

  • CuS+2O2 → CuSO4
  • ZnS+2O2 → ZnSO4
  • CoS+2O2 → CoSO4
