BioMinE is an integrated project in the Sixth Framework Programme with companies, research institutes and universities from 14 countries as partners. The project is focusing on research and development of bioleaching but also comprises methods to separate metal from metal rich solutions with the help of microbes. Another task in the project is to produce more free learning materials and disseminate knowledge in biohydrometallurgy – this objective gave birth to BioMineWiki.
